Dorothy M. Achten, 93, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, in Shawano.
Dorothy was born on April 24, 1922, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Franklin and Mary (Bibelhausen) Achten. She lived in the same house from the day of her birth until her death.
Dorothy worked at Strassenreiter-Ashenbrenner Law Office from high school until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Shawano, where she was the music director and church organist, and led the church choir for many years. She enjoyed fishing and hunting up north, and playing cards with family and friends.
Dorothy loved gardening and had a vegetable garden all her life. She spent many hours tenderly caring for and harvesting rhubarb and raspberries for jams, jellies, pies and sauces.
Dorothy will be missed deeply by her family and many friends.
Dorothy is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
