Mary A. Zimmerman

Mary A. Zimmerman, 73, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, Jan. 11, 201, at the Theda Care Medical Center in Shawano. Mary was born on May 15, 1942, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Frank and Ann (Stancar) Brezonick. She grew up in Elm Grove and graduated from Brookfield Central High School. Mary then worked for the Harley Davidson Motor Company in Milwaukee, where she met John Zimmerman. The couple were united in marriage on Sept. 5, 1970, in Milwaukee. In 1977, they moved to Shawano, where they operated a resort on Shawano Lake called Zimmerman’s Pier 366. Then in 1995, the couple moved to the town of Belle Plaine. John preceded his wife in death on Nov. 6, 2003. Mary was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the town of Pella, where she enjoyed helping with the Ladies Aid, the Southwest Shippers, and the church’s annual fall dinner. Mary was also a past member of the Shawano Lake Lioness while living in Shawano. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed crafts, playing sheephead, crocheting afghans, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her sisters, Judy (Joseph) Lemanczyk and Dolly (John) Pegelow; a brother, Michael (Donna) Brezonick; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; also special friends Judy Ebert and Christopher, Jean and J.T. Houston. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and brothers, John and Frank Jr. Mary’s memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the town of Pella with the Rev. Timothy Lofgren officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
