The Shawano City-County Library will host its annual Afternoon with the Authors from 4-6 p.m. Thursday.
Ten local authors will share their stories and writing experiences. Many authors will have copies of their books available for purchase and autographing.
Authors attending the event at the library, 128 S. Sawyer St., Shawano, include the following:
- Ronald Conradt has penned several thrillers set in Door County. His most recent book was released in December.
- Misty Cook has spent considerable time researching natural Native American medicines within the Stockbridge-Munsee tribe and published a book on that topic.
- Steven Dakai is an author and personal development consultant. His most recent book was published in 2015.
- Wendy Goerl is a local artist and writer. She has published a poetry chapbook along with instructional books on creating potholders with a variety of designs.
- Deb Maier recently published her first book, an autobiography. She is at work on the sequel.
- Dr. Janson Mancheski has written several crime novels set in Green Bay. He has won multiple writing awards, including a 2008 award from Writer’s Digest and a 2010 Sharp Writ Book award.
- John Mutter Jr. has an extensive writing history with over 115 writing credits throughout several different types of publications. He has also self-published two books.
- Lee Pulaski is the current president of the Shawano Area Writers. He has published 11 books since 2008.
- Alicia Rades is a writer of teen supernatural novels. The second book in her Crystal Frost series releases on Jan. 25. She has also authored two novellas, poetry and a short story.
- Irma Timmons won an award for best personal narrative at the Aestival Festival in 2004. She has written newspaper columns, musical dramas for local organizations, and a variety of other projects.
The event is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required.
The Shawano City-County Library consists of the main library in Shawano, branches in Birnamwood, Bonduel, Mattoon-Hutchins, Tigerton and Wittenberg as well as a county-wide delivery service.
