Donald L. Kerstner, 82, of Wausau, died on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Donald was born on March 10, 1933, in Clintonville to the late Erick and Mildred (Olmsted) Kerstner. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War.
Donald married Doris Strelow in Bowler in 1954. In his working years, Donald’s expertise was in the realm of windows, both as draftsman and in sales. He was a fine woodworking craftsman who made furniture and cabinets. He also enjoyed traveling, playing cards and golf.
Donald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Kerstner, of Wausau; sons, Sheldon (Arlene) Kerstner, of Crandon, and Kevin Kerstner, of Wausau; and siblings, Carl (Ronda) Kerstner, of Bowler, Leon Kerstner, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Beverly (Paul) Bierman, of Bowler, and Carol (Carl) Brennecke, of Mattoon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Connie Eckes.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave., Wausau. The Rev. Zach Holdorf will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Monday.
