Alice M. Johnson, 90, of Green Bay, died in Chandler, Ariz., on April 26, 2013.
She was born on July 11, 1922, in the Oconto County township of Maple Valley to James and Lena Slang.
She graduated from Suring High School in 1940 and completed beauty school in Milwaukee in 1941.
On May 5, 1945, she married Lee Johnson at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Suring.
Alice, along with her husband, lived in Suring, Marinette, Oconto, Berlin and Green Bay.
Besides working as a beautician, she worked as a telephone operator for Wisconsin Telephone Company in Berlin and as a secretary for Von Haden Supply in Green Bay.
She was active in a variety of church activities and volunteered for a number of service organizations.
Alice will be remembered for her musical talents and singing voice, along with her participation in numerous Suring Labor Day celebrations, where she often joined the Jossie brothers in the parade to display their highly popular comedy routines.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. David (Susan) Schroeder, Chandler, Ariz.; two sons, Irving (Judy) Johnson, Belgrade, Mont., and Greg (Sue) Johnson, Fairbanks, Alaska; two sisters-in-law, Doris Paulson, Green Bay, and Dora Slang, Suring; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, seven sisters, her husband, Lee, and grandson, Brian Johnson.
Visitation will be held at Suring United Methodist Church on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Daniel Nault officiating.
