Gillett will celebrate Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 6, with a variety of events. The annual Christmas in the Park celebration marks the first time the trees are lit up at Zippel Park.
Santa will visit with children from 1-4 p.m. inside the expo building at Zippel Park. Hot food, crafts and vendors’ goods will be on sale.
The Gillett Library will sponsor Snominton and a Jingle Bell Skate. Individuals are encouraged to bring their own roller skates.
Hintz 4-H will hold a bake sale, cake walk and craft sale, with all proceeds going to a family at the Rainbow House.
The park lighting ceremony will take place at 4:15 p.m., with fireworks to follow.
The Gillett Area Historical Society will have a Christmas open house from 1-4 p.m. at the museum, and the Gillett Woman’s Club will sell cookies at local banks on Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6.
The hints for the ninth annual Holiday Wreath Hunt will be available at the park on Dec. 6. Families will be eligible for prizes by visiting participating businesses and answering questions about their wreaths. Last year, over 25 families participated, and all went home with a prize, thanks to the generosity of Gillett-area businesses.
