Betty L. (Peterson) Anderson, 81, Oconto Falls, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2015, in the Sharpe Care Nursing Home in Oconto Falls. She was born on Feb. 4, 1934, to the late Ralph and Lota (Renie) Peterson of Union, Illinois.
After growing up and attending school in Illinois, Betty married Korean War army vet Roger Anderson, of Creston, Illinois. Roger’s work kept the couple and their two children moving to different states, including Wisconsin. In 1980, she and Roger resettled permanently in Wisconsin, ending up in Oconto Falls in 1990.
Since the late 1970s, Betty was active in her local Baptist church. She was a fabulous cook, gardener and handicrafter. In recent years, both Betty and Roger were residents of Sharpe Care Nursing Home, where Roger passed away in November 2014.
Betty is survived by her children, Laura (Liam) O’Brien and Scott (Linda) Anderson; her sister, Ginger (David) Sears; six grandchildren, David, Daniel, Tim, Katie, Kurtis and Kyle; other relatives and many friends.
Gillett Baptist Church will host her funeral service on May 9, 2015. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. The service is at 11 a.m., with light refreshments to follow. Internment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Creston, Illinois.
Betty’s family wishes to sincerely thank all the staff at Sharpe Care for the dedication and love with which they cared for her throughout her time there.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Gillett Baptist Church.
