Fifteen students from Gillett High School will take a trip to Costa Rica in mid-June 2016.
To raise funds for the trip, the students will hold a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 4-6 at the Town of Gillett Fire Station, 10908 Town Hall Road, Gillett. The sale coincides with Gillett’s citywide rummage sale.
Items for sale include a double stroller, kid’s bike, toddler bed and clothing. Baked goods and drinks will also be available for purchase.
Gillett High School Spanish teacher Amy Shaw and guidance counselor Brian Bloesel will accompany the students to Costa Rica. The group will take a scenic drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park and see the chocolate-making process, from the beginning.
The trip also has a one day/night stay at the Arenal Hot Springs, a café Britt Coffee tour in Barva de Heredia, with optional zip-lining, and the opportunity to participate in humanitarian activities by bringing school supplies and clothing to an orphanage or day care center.
The students will participate in a home stay at an Hispanic family’s home, providing them a real-life experience communicating in Spanish with native Spanish speakers.
