The Lena Lions presented Susan Schmidt with the Lions Community Service award plaque for 2015. Lions President Glenn Magnin made the presentation at the club’s annual awards/pre-Christmas banquet Dec. 1 at Romy’s Holiday Inn.
Magnin made a point of saying that Schmidt is the first lady Lion member of the Lena club. She has taken charge of the Lions’ spring rose sale and the fall flower sale and has done a tremendous job, Magnin said.
Schmidt was born in Oconto Falls to Gene and Marlene Deprey. She graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1980. After graduation she worked by Nercon Engineering and Manufacturing in Oconto. On Sept. 21, 1984, she married Robert Schmidt. She has one son, four stepchildren and six stepgrandchildren.
Since 1986, she was worked for her father’s construction company, Gene Deprey Construction, and enjoys working with her hands and spending time with her dad every day. She also cleans and maintains several office buildings in Oconto, where she and her husband live.
In her free time, Bob and Sue enjoy golfing, attending antique car shows, and helping out family and friends with various projects whenever possible.
