A 59-year-old man from Mountain was killed Oct. 4 when his utility vehicle collided with a car in the Town of Gillett.
According to a news release from Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban, deputies were called just after 11 a.m. to Klaus Lake Road at the Nicolet Recreation Trail.
The preliminary investigation indicated the victim was traveling south on the trail when he entered the roadway turning north and was struck by the southbound car, which was driven by a 32-year-old man from Kaukauna, Skarban said.
The UTV driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The car driver and his passengers, a 31-year-old woman and an infant, were transported to a Green Bay hospital for treatment. No other information was released immediately.
Skarban said the sheriff’s office, in cooperation with the Wisconsin State Patrol and Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office, continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Other assistance was provided by the Gillett Police Department, Town of Gillett Fire Department, City of Gillett Fire Department, Gillett Municipal Utility, Gillett Area Ambulance Service and Larry’s Towing.
