A young girl was pulled from a pond at a local mini golf course but was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to Shawano police.
Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive child at about 8 p.m. July 1 at Shawano Mini Golf, an 18-hole mini-golf course at 1056 E. Green Bay St.
Lifesaving efforts by police and emergency medical personnel were unsuccessful.
Lt. Dan Conradt said the child was pulled from a pond on the property.
The incident remains under investigation. Police are not releasing the name of the child out of respect for the family and pending any additional investigative steps.
Shawano Mini Golf reopened in June after closing its doors in 2022.
The business is closed until further notice, according to its Facebook page.
