Shawano County officials are trying a second time to conduct a first-round sale of real estate foreclosed on by the county.
The county has taken possession of five properties due to the owner not paying back taxes.
A first attempt to sell the properties by the county was halted when officials realized they were not following the law that required the sites be advertised for sale with an appraised value attached to them.
Properties include:
• 23.5-acre lot on North Airport Drive and Lake Drive in the Town of Wescott. $3,200 appraised value.
• 8.26-acre lot at W18776 County Road Z in Aniwa. $80,000 appraised value.
• Lot and building at 519 Flint Ave., Mattoon. $12,000 appraised value.
• Lot and building at 502 S. Andrews St., Shawano. $10,000 appraised value.
• Lot on Weed Street in Shawano. $3,000 appraised value.
The appraised values are the same as the minimum bids advertised a month ago with the exception of the Aniwa property that had a minimum bid of $8,000.
All property is sold as is.
Sealed bids will be accepted at the county treasurer’s office at the Shawano County Courthouse, 311 N. Main St., Shawano, until 1:59 p.m. July 15. All bids must be equal to or greater than the appraised value.
The parcels will be sold to the person offering the highest bid equal to or in excess of the asking price.
A 10% good faith deposit in the form of a certified check, cashier’s check or money order payable to “Shawano County” must accompany the bid. The balance is payable within 14 days from the date of notification of approval of the bid or down payment is forfeited.
Deposits of successful bidders will be applied to the purchase price. All others will be returned.
