Chargers boys, girls win home invite

May 13 Algoma Invite Oconto Falls track and field competitors won several events against eight other schools in Algoma. Elijah White won the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. In the 200-meter dash, he was followed by Evan Yuma in second and Isaac Bramer in third. Yuma won the 400-meter dash, and Brady Bursa won the long jump. The Panthers won three of the four relays. The foursome of Bursa, Bramer, Croix Gardebrecht and White were fastest in the 4x100-meter relay. Yuma, Gardebrecht, Brant Laluzerne and Emerson Rice won the 4x400. Winning the 4x800 were Rice, Laluzerne, Griffin Kopke and Ben Adams. Hailey Delzer won the girls 3,200-meter run and the triple jump. In the 4x200, it was Emery Pagel, Brooke Fenlon, Ashlynn Vandermoss and Rylie Shallow finishing first. The fastest in the 4x800 were Delzer, Emma Meissner, Ava Hodkiewicz and Brooke Hodkiewicz. Gwen Maggio won the high jump. May 12 Oconto Invite Menominee Nation won five boys events and one girls event in Oconto. Barron Waupoose was fastest in the 400-meter dash, with Bryant Waupoose winning the 1,600-meter run. Anthony Silas was best in the high jump. Miklo Guzman won the discus, and Mitchell Waukau finished first in the shot put. Rayshawn Madosh was second in the shot put, just 3 inches less than Waukau. The win for the girls was by Urijah Reevis in the high jump. The best finish for the Oconto Falls girls team came from Vera Deneys-Ondik, who placed second in the 300-meter hurdles. For the boys, the 4x400 team placed second. Wittenberg Lions Invitational Wittenberg-Birnamwood boys and girls track teams each won their home invitational, besting six other teams in the process. The girls tallied 172 points, with Bonduel in second with 123, Marion/Tigerton in fourth with 48 and Bowler/Gresham in sixth with 31. For the boys, the Chargers scored 146. Bonduel was third with 114, Marion/Tigerton was fourth with 47, and Bowler/Gresham was fifth with 36. Winning for the Witt-Birn girls were Kylee Beversdorf in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, Nora Bushman in the 1,600-meter run, Gabrielle Timm in the 3,200-meter run, Faith Resch in the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles, Resch also in the triple jump, and the 4x400-meter relay. For the boys, Marty Nowinsky won the 1,600-meter run, Alex Sanderson in the 110-meter and the 300-meter hurdles, the 4x100 team, the 4x200 team, the 4x400 team, Jett Rogowski in the long jump, Logan Gibson in the triple jump and Landen Schmidt in both shot put and discus. Bonduel’s event winners were Mariah Wondra in the girls 800-meter run, the girls 4x100 team, the girls 4x800 team, Josie Pawlak in the girls long jump, Joah Dworniczak in the boys 3,200-meter run and the boys 4x800 team. For Marion/Tigerton, Presley Stewart-Rolfs won the girls discus, and Tristan Herro won the boys high jump. Bowler/Gresham’s best finisher was Addison Fischer placing second in the girls 400-meter dash. For the boys, there were a trio of third-place finishes – the 4x400 team, the 4x800 team and Mason Martin in the high jump.
