Betty R. Walker

Betty Ruth Walker, 93, of Birnamwood, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at Eastview Nursing Home in Antigo. Betty was born on Oct. 19, 1930, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Rudolph and Adeline (Falaas) Fischer. Betty married Peter Frank Ridosko in 1951. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1977. Later in life, she married Thomas Ray Walker, who also preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2003. Betty raised three children on her own. She worked at Controls Company of America and had two part-time jobs. She moved her family out of Milwaukee to Sussex in 1965. Betty and Ray moved to Antigo in September 1977, and owned and operated the Silver Dollar Bar until 1986. Betty enjoyed the company of her customers and made many dear friends. Betty was also employed at Oak Outlet in Aniwa. She also volunteered at Aspirus Langlade Hospital and sat with residents at Homme Home in Wittenberg. More than anything, Betty loved her family. She made many sacrifices for her children. She was always willing and happy to do things for others. Betty loved going to rummage sales and auctions. She also loved to travel. Her favorite thing to do was play cards with her family and friends. Survivors include three children, Craig Ridosko, of Waukesha, Cathy Strobel, of Antigo, and Pete Ridosko, of Gadsden, Alabama; four grandchildren, Jason Orlowski, Kendall Strobel Nieft, Crystal Walker and Steven Walker, and three great-grandchildren, Orrin Orlowski, Olesia Orlowski and Tyler Nieft. Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, parents and son-in-law, Bobby Strobel. The family would like to thank Hands With Hearts and Eastview Nursing Home for their love and extraordinary care. Betty was also blessed to have Vicky Prelipp as a wonderful friend. Per Betty’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
