Workshop to help farms in alfalfa management efforts

UW-Madison Division of Extension is holding a free workshop designed to help farms in their alfalfa management efforts at 10 a.m. Jan. 31 at Lena Town Hall, 6087 Goatsville Road, Lena. Regional educators Scott Reuss and Stephanie Bowers will be leading the discussion that will look at both the in-field management aspects and the ration development aspects, and talk about storage a bit along the way. Key topics/questions that will be addressed include: selection and species mixes; nutrient and cutting management, including results of Wiscosin Alfalfa Yield and Persistence project; growing and feeding rocket fuel to dairy herds; feeding the right quality to the right animals; and other topics based on participants’ questions and concerns.
