Clarence V. Meier

Clarence V. Meier, 85, of Gillett, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023. Clarence was born June 1, 1937, to the late Gustave and Helen (Andre) Meier. He graduated from Butternut High School and later served two years in the U.S. Army, being stationed in New Jersey. He owned Wash On Wheels, a cleaning business, and later worked for Super X in Milwaukee. In June 1996, Clarence married Alice Block-Rubner in Gillett. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, trap shooting, throwing horseshoes, playing dartball, and loved listening to polka music. He is a member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett. Clarence is survived by his wife, Alice; his son, Scott (Margo) Meier of Manitowoc; two daughters, Crystal (Tim) Tillotson of Melbourne, Florida, and Alanna Schramm of Hartford; a stepson, Michael (Renee) Rubner of Greenville, South Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Austin, Dakota, Courtney (Danny), Heather (Shane), Megan, Nicole, Colt, Tyler, Nicholas and Bethany; two siblings, Ellie Drott and Darleen Yeske both of Butternut; two sisters-in-law, Barb (Dan) Dryja of Krakow and Karen Block. Clarence is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Carl; a sister, Betty; a grandson, Jeremy Johnston; a son-in-law, Dave Schramm; four brothers-in-law, Willard Drott, Hillman Yeske, Gary Shroyer, and Jim Block. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Laatsch officiating. Clarence will be interred in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Pulcifer. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
