Shawano Municipal Airport will once again be the first flyover point of the EAA AirVenture Cup Race, set for July 19.

Wausau Downtown Airport in Wausau will be the start and finish line for the 28th annual event, when abut 100 unique aircraft in 40 race classes finish the race of more than 400 nautical miles.

In April, a woman in Green Lake County was driving three passengers on a UTV when she took a curve too quickly.

The vehicle rolled and hit a tree head-on. One passenger died at the scene and a second just days later. The 26-year-old driver’s blood alcohol concentration was three times the legal limit, according to the police report.

Wisconsin’s next partisan primary election will be Aug. 11, and voters can start to cast absentee ballots at the end of July.

Voters must be registered to vote to request an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

Voters can apply with their municipal clerk for an absentee ballot in person, by mail, by fax, by email or at MyVote.wi.gov.

Area grade school and middle school students are invited to create artwork for The Enchanted Trail, an outdoor student art exhibit that will be featured during the Mountain-Bay State Trail’s 30th Anniversary Celebration on Sept. 26.

Friends of the Mountain-Bay State Trail-Shawano is accepting submissions now.

Students are invited to create artwork inspired by the theme “Things You Can See or Do on the Mountain-Bay State Trail.”
