An almost 8-mile strip of state Highway 22 will be repaved by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in 2030 or 2031.

The former Kuehl Funeral Home received a much-needed facelift.

Under new management by Brent Gruetzmacher, the property at 108 E. Main St. in Gillett is ready for a public tour.

“The carpet that we replaced was installed in 1964,” Gruetzmacher said. “You can imagine what orange 60-year-old carpet looked like.”

Cash, clothes, household items and more are still being sought to help the three families displaced by the Aug. 16 fire at The Crossroads Bar and Grill at 300 Cedar St., Tigerton.

Items can be dropped off at the Main Street Diner in Tigerton. The Tigerton ambulance garage will accept donations in the evening hours.

The Olde Dime Store in Wittenberg will also assist the families in need.

Getting to the shops in downtown Shawano is fairly easy for most people, but there are concerns that the disabled and elderly might not be able to access stores like most others can.

A bipartisan group of state lawmakers is trying to bring immunity protections to 911 dispatchers.

A bill proposed in June would provide immunity protections for 911 call centers or dispatchers when they transfer calls to the suicide hotline.
