• Eric J. Hujet, 47, Seymour, pleaded no contest June 4 to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (fourth offense). Judge Jay Conley on Aug. 12 imposed and stayed a prison sentence, then placed Hujet on four years of probation with conditions including revocation of his driver’s license for 36 months.

City of Shawano unveils capital projects

The proposed capital improvement projects for 2026 were presented Aug. 13 to the Shawano Common Council.

Shawano County jail may outsource food service

Officials at the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department are considering outsourcing the food service for the county jail.

Sheriff George Lenzner said one of the issues is the recurring theme of not being able to properly staff the kitchen.

“The biggest problem we’re having is with the money we’re paying them, it’s hard to find people to work those hours,” he told the public safety committee Aug. 6.
