New Beginnings seeks donations for roof project

New Beginnings Community Thrift Store, 106 1/2 N. Main St., Clintonville, recently began its capital fund drive to replace and repair parts of the facility’s roof. Trinity Lutheran Church, Bear Creek, has pledged to match the first $1,500 raised for the work. Donation coordinator Brenda Hansen has said that the last two winters have been brutal for the facility. About $15,000 is needed to complete the roof work, she said. Hansen said people have been more than generous with their donations of clothing and household items, but workers have to keep moving things around to keep them from getting wet. The store has stopped accepting donations of TVs, computers and other electronics because there is no place to store them. Donations for the roof project may be sent to WPIC at P.O. Box 554, Waupaca, WI 54981. Checks can be made out to New Beginnings with the memo “roof repair.” New Beginnings will send receipts for the donations. To find out more about the roof repair project or to volunteer to help with the work, call Mike Hellweg at 920-850-0953. Hansen also said the store needs more volunteers to help sort items and serve as customer service representatives. Recently a group of Girl Scouts helped to sort through 30 boxes in just one hour, she said. Potential volunteers are asked to call 715-823-9161 or email brendahansen@frontiernet for additional information.
