Mildred R. White, 88, Birnamwood, died on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Bohlman Manor, Birnamwood.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1925, in Norrie, the daughter of the late Frank and Alma (Giese) Matz.
Mildred attended Birnamwood School and also Northcentral Technical College in Antigo. She married Carlton Looney in Birnamwood on July 24, 1948. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in February 1949. She then married William Jessie on May 5, 1950. The couple later divorced. Mildred was united in marriage to Keith White on Aug. 9, 1954, in Indianapolis. He survives.
Mildred worked for Stokley Van Camp in Indianapolis for 11 years before moving back to Wisconsin in 1959. She worked at Sheldon’s Inc., Antigo, for 25½ years until her retirement in 1985.
Mildred did not have any children but loved and cherished each of her countless nieces and nephews. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Birnamwood, and the couple also enjoyed attending any activity that involved their family.
Survivors include her husband, Keith, Birnamwood; siblings, Melvin Matz and Edward (Marion) Matz, all of Birnamwood, Lois Liethen, Norrie and Shirley (Robert) Clark, Birnamwood, and countless nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her first and second husbands; her parents; half-sister, Eudora Crawford; sister, Evelyn Frederick; nephews, Kenneth and Kevin Frederick; and great-nephew, Nels Jacobson.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. The Rev. Matthew Christians will officiate.
Interment will be in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
