Michael J. Smith, 48, of Keshena, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, in Green Bay. He was born on Oct. 8, 1965, in Shawano to Joseph L. and Dorothy (Winneshiek) Smith.
Michael lived most of his life in the Neopit area and worked at Menominee Tribal Enterprises. He enjoyed riding around, hunting, fishing and, most importantly Michael loved spending time with his children. Michael is survived by his fiancee, Raquel Escalante; his children, Felicia, Michael, Timothy, Kayla, Sarg, Shaneka, Steven and Marcos; one granddaughter, Marisa; his parents, Joseph and Dorothy; his siblings, Frank, of Appleton, Jessica, Shelley (Greg) and Lisa (Son), of South Dakota; and a special cousin, John Boyd III. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem, officiating. Visitation will be held at the Neopit Community Center in the Dave Kiefer Room after 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, until the time of the service. A prayer service will be held at the community center at 7 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Neopit.
