Michael J. Kretschmann, 26, of Shawano, passed on to the spirit world on Tuesday, Nov. 24, due to complications from head trauma earlier in the year.
Mike was born in 1989 in Watertown. Mike recently moved to Denver, Colorado, to work with “alternative energy” and live in an area that had so much to offer among the mountains, breathtaking scenery and musical culture that all reached deeply into his soul.
Mike’s travels led him to many new places, leaving a trail of lasting friendships in his wake. Mike simply wanted others to be spiritually awoken to the beauty of life by placing memories and experience above possessions.
Mike’s candle of life burned like the fuse to a firecracker; this spark was something friends and family were instinctively drawn to and will never forget. We will all miss that unforgettable smile and laugh Mike carried with him. He lived more in his 26 years than most will in a lifetime.
Survivors include his parents, Dan and Lisa; brother, Matthew, of Shawano; grandmother, Barbara Kretschmann, of Watertown; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerome “The Big Kahuna,” of Watertown; grandparents, Barbara and Leo Frentzel, of Watertown; aunts, Deborah Schumacher, of Clyman, Terri Kretschmann, of Stoughton, Jo Anne Steffen and Susan Zwieg, of Watertown.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at St. Michael’s Church in Keshena. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Lighthouse in Shawano.
