LeRoy A. Rudie, 87, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Serenity Gardens Assisted Living in Gillett, where he most recently resided. He was born Feb. 6, 1936 to Anker and Adella (Rush) Rudie in Gillett, Wisconsin where he spent his early life.
LeRoy joined the U.S. Air Force and spent a 20-year career serving his country. After his service retirement, LeRoy earned an associate’s degree in corrections and spent 18 years as a corrections officer at the Wisconsin State Reformatory in Green Bay. Over the years he had resided in DePere, the Gillett area and Marinette. He was married to the former Luise Nicolai, of Germany, who preceded him in death in 2017.
LeRoy is survived by two brothers, Arl (Nancy) Rudie and Richard (Janice) Rudie; a sister, Sharon Essmann; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Duane.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Marinette in the spring.
