Leland J. Schuh

Leland Joseph Schuh, 89, of Shawano, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014, at Oak Haven in Shawano. Born on Feb. 26, 1925, in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Uerling) Schuh. After graduating from high school, Leland enlisted with the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country for two years during World War II. After service, Leland furthered his education by attending St. Norbert College and the University of Wisconsin. He was later employed by the state of Wisconsin as a laboratory technician. On Feb. 15, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mildred L. Dingeldein in Shawano. The couple enjoyed traveling and wintering in California. Leland was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano and a member of the Shawano American Legion. Leland is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred; his four children, David (Sharon) Schuh, of Chads Ford, Pa., Steven (Frances) Schuh, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Cynthia (Tony) Schuh Fruhwirth, of Oshkosh, and James (Kelly) Schuh, of West Friendship, Md.; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Tim) Schuh Reilly, Michael (Abby) Schuh, Joseph (Julie) Schuh, John Schuh, Christian and Kellen Fruhwirth, Caitlin and Eric Schuh; and five great-grandchildren, Kyra, Ally, Jack, Layne and Sophie. Leland was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Private family services were held. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano assisted the family with the arrangements.
