James R. Sell

James R. Sell, 80, of Gresham, formerly of Kaukauna, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014. Born on Jan. 30, 1934, in Appleton, he was the son of the late Harry and Sophie (Rusch) Sell. Jim married Sharon on Feb, 7, 1976. Jim was a member of St. John Lutheran Church-Hermansfort. Jim was the owner/operator of Sell Tree Transplant in the Fox Valley and worked for the Fox River Mall as grounds supervisor for many years. Jim enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, woodworking, fishing, socializing and working on projects in his shop. He was known around Captain’s Cove Resort as “a man that would help anyone,” and loved to give “50-cent tours” on his golf cart. He was “always around” on that cart, usually with his beloved dogs (Lucky and Baby-Girl-Lucy) by his side. The day that he died, he had been out sharing vegetables from their garden with the neighbors. He was loved by so many, and he will be sadly missed. Jim is survived by his wife, Sharon, and sister Betty Edwards, Appleton; children, James Sell, Rebecca (Robin) Keddell, Ed (Leah) Howard, Dan (Bonnie) Sell, Bill (Kari) Sell, Debbie (Rick) Chosa, Jamie (special friend) Sell, Tom Howard and Brenda (Jerry) Tyler. Jim also is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Sophie Sell; infant brother, Harry Sell; brother-in-law, Roger Edwards; mother-in-law, Kit Ryan; and many uncles and aunts. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Hermansfort with the Rev. Roland Golz officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
