Irene Forncrook, 78, Oconto Falls, died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Milwaukee to Stanley and Marie (Wall) Sutrick. When Irene was a young girl, she moved with her family to the Brookside area, where she attended grade school, later graduating from Oconto Falls High School with the Class of 1954.
On Nov. 5, 1955, Irene married her high school sweetheart, Eugene “Sonny” Forncrook. The couple lived in Oconto Falls their entire married lives where Irene’s early years were busy raising a family and working, her later years filled with many enjoyable pastimes.
An avid doll collector, Irene spent years accumulating a beautiful collection of porcelain, antique and vintage dolls. Chatty Cathy and Barbie were two of her favorites, and she was well-versed in their history, care and repair. She also loved jaunts to the casino and activities with the Red Hat Ladies.
Irene also served as a volunteer in the Big Sister program and the Kingdom Come Food Pantry. She was longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Parish, where she was involved in the Altar Rosary Society and helped to serve funeral dinners. During the last year of Irene’s life, she was blessed to have the care and companionship of a dear and very special friend, Jim Magnin.
Irene is survived by her three children, Susan (David) Anderson, Beth (Kevin) Buss and Wade Forncrook; eight grandchildren, Maria Sorrentino, Allison (fiancé Austin Berglin) and Lindsay Anderson, Chelsea (Ian) Brown, Andrea (Tre Carson) and Anthony Buss, Ian Forncrook and Taran Roth; two great-grandchildren, Claire Brown and Oliver Carson; four sisters, Terry Cybry, Gerry (Clary) Langer, Marge (William) Moody and Carol (David) Hallada; two sisters-in-law, Bette Rice and Anna Sutrick; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene, “Sonny,” on June 10, 2011; one brother, Eugene Sutrick; four brothers-in-law, Merle Rice, George Schuessler, Nap Truckey and Frank Cybry; two sisters-in-law, Pat Truckey and Marge Schuessler; and four nephews, Paul and Mike Truckey, Dale Rice and Jim Hallada.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at St. Anthony Catholic Church until the time of the service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
