Hillside Assembly of God Church in Gillett will hold its annual Wild Game Seminar and Supper on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Oconto Falls High School.
The wild game potluck supper begins at 6 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring their favorite dish to pass. The doors open at 4 p.m.
Twenty replicas of trophy whitetail mounts will be displayed. There will be three, one-hour seminars beginning at 5 p.m. and a featured seminar at 7 p.m.
The 5 p.m. seminar topics are Food Plots, presented by Doug Kostreva, who will discuss minerals and different food plot strategies; Do-It-Yourself Elk Hunting, discussing how to get close to bulls for archery and muzzle loading, how to bugle and cow call; and Deer Ranch Hunting, discussing what it is like to hunt on a 1,500-acre hunting preserve populated by trophy whitetail bucks.
Tracy Breen will be the main speaker at 7 p.m. In addition to being a diehard outdoorsman, Breen has cerebral palsy. Despite his setbacks, Breen writes for magazines such as Outdoor Life, Bowhunter, Bowhunting World and Petersen Bowhunting, and works with a variety of companies in the archery industry, including Mathews Archery, Mission Archery, Wilderness Athlete, Pine Ridge Archery and Schaffer Performance Archery.
This year’s raffle prizes include a Henry Golden Boy .22 caliber with 500 rounds of ammunition, Horton Quad 400 crossbow with three 22-inch arrows and scope, Stack-On hand gun safe, Bushnell trail camera, Remington 770 30-06, women’s Cabelas $100 gift card and a meat grinder.
A display of 20 replicas of huge trophy whitetail mounts will be set up in the gym. The largest bucks measure over 200 inches.
Attendees can bring in their 2014 bucks for scoring.
Participants also are encouraged to bring a canned good for the local food pantry.
