Sherry Christianson, fourth-grade teacher at Wabeno Elementary School, has been chosen by the Wabeno Education Association as an Educator of Excellence for the 2013-2014 school year.
In nominating Christianson for the award, instructor Jody Kalata wrote: “Sherry has stepped out of her comfort zone and given up individual voice and control of her own classroom to be part of a teaching team. She is willing to give up her comfort and put the needs and comfort of her students first. And, she has done all this with unbelievable ease.
“Sherry has proven she can balance being a mother of four, a coach, a wife and an amazing educator. She has also stepped into roles on the PBIS team and Next Generation Pilot team. She shows up to work with a smile on her face and a contagious, positive attitude that others can’t help but catch when they run into her. Students know exactly what Mrs. Christianson expects from them, and they are ready and willing to meet those expectations. She makes learning fun and interesting! Wabeno Elementary is blessed to have Mrs. Sherry Christianson as one of their Educators of Excellence!”
The award was presented to Christianson at an elementary school assembly by Rita Thielke Blazewicz, a retired Wabeno High School teacher and officer of the Nicolet Oconto Retired Teachers Association.
