Tracey Rae Vandeveer, 52, Oconto Falls, died on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, of complications to MS. She was born in Green Bay on Oct. 17, 1961, to the late Carol (Meidl) Vandeveer and Ronald Meidl.
During her childhood, Vandeveer lived in De Pere. She resided in Ashwaubenon for much of her life before moving to Oconto Falls in 2010.
Prior to her disability retirement, Tracey worked in customer service for Georgia-Pacific. She was employed as a benefits analyst at Humana Insurance for many years. Tracey was a 1991 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and graduated from Ashwaubenon High School in 1979. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan, a member of the board of trustees of Kingdom Come Food Pantry, and a volunteer at SouthernCare Hospice.
Tracey was loved by all. She was a kind, gentle woman who delighted us with her keen sense of humor. Tracey was an athlete who never gave up on her dream to walk independently again. She inspired many with her deep spiritual insight and wisdom. An animal lover and horsewoman, Tracey was a kindred soul to all of God’s creatures.
Tracey is survived by her beloved fiancee, Elaine Thomas; her daughter, Sigourney Vandeveer; lifelong friends Vikki (Charlie) Nason and Tina (Greg) Pablek; father-in-heart, Gordon Thomas; sisters-in-heart, Jean Marcell (special friend Fred Antonissen), Margaret (Mike) Wilcox, Diane Thomas (special friend Greg Touminen), Phyllis (Scott) Rappi; brother-in-heart, Robert (Elaine) Thomas; several nieces and nephews.
Tracey was preceded in death by her mother, Carol, and grandparents, Harley “Van” and Jean Vandeveer and sister-in-heart, Virgina Easley.
Visitation will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Morgan on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Paul Heykes officiating. Her remains will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery in De Pere.
