The Oconto Falls Friends of the Arts will present six shows in its 2014-15 Fine Arts Series.
Missoula Children’s Theatre will involve 50 local children in the retelling of “Rapunzel.” The show will be presented at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Falls Area Performing Arts Center at Oconto Falls High School. Tickets are $11 for adults and $6 for students.
Irish tenor Anthony Kearns will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the PAC. Tickets are $38. Kearns is recognized around the globe after over a decade with The Irish Tenors. As a classically trained tenor, Kearns will perform a concert repertoire that spans the spectrum from Ireland to Broadway, from well-loved melodies to popular classics, and from lighthearted comedy to the greatest tenor arias ever written. The performance coincides with the weekend of Falls Fun Fest.
Daddy D Productions will participate in a Fine Arts Celebration and Raffle with its performance, Shake, Rattle and Roll, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Romy’s Holiday Inn, Kelly Lake. Tickets are $43 for the dinner and show. Celebrating the 1950s, Daddy D will present tunes from Danny and the Juniors, Bill Haley and the Comets, and other rock ‘n’ roll greats. The afternoon event includes raffles and a silent auction. Seating is limited, and tickets will be sold in advance only.
David Rambo’s “The Lady With All the Answers,” which tells the story of renowned newspaper advice columnist Ann Landers, will be staged at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at the PAC. Tickets are $33.
For decades, Landers responded to countless questions from lovelorn teens, confused couples and a multitude of others in need of advice on matters small and momentous—like the proper way to hang toilet paper rolls. This one-woman show provides a compelling portrait of this folksy, funny, frank and slightly eccentric writer and personality. The show is intended for adult audiences only.
The John Denver Musical Tribute, starring Ted Vigil, will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at the PAC. Tickets are $38. According to longtime Denver guitar accompanist Steve Weisberg, Vigil closely resembles Denver both physically and musically. Weisberg accompanies Vigil and bring the compositions and hits of Denver to audiences, with songs like “Leavin’ on a Jet Plane,” “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” and “Calypso.” Denver recorded nearly 300 songs, 200 of which he composed, which led to 12 gold and four platinum albums. He was also awarded an Emmy and two Grammy awards.
A dinner and show featuring Dorf Kapelle will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, April 24, at Romy’s Holiday Inn, Kelly Lake. Tickets are $43. Dorf Kapelle performs authentic folk music of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Seating is limited, and tickets will be sold in advance only.
