Thomas “Bud” James McGuan, 85, passed away on July 10, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 11, 1928, in Baraboo.
Bud served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin College of Engineering.
Bud married Beatrice “Bea” Burton on June 21, 1948, in Baraboo.
He worked for the Scott Paper Company in Oconto Falls from 1952 through 1972 and for the Scott Paper Company in Winslow, Maine, from 1972 until retirement in 1987.
Bud is survived by nine children: daughters Margaret Steffeck and husband Ric, of Mayville, Jean Petley and husband Steve, of Oakland, Maine, Nancy Weeks and husband Nate, of Henderson, Nevada, and Catherine Durette and husband Peter, of Lyman, Maine; sons Francis McGuan and wife Susan (Bolduc), of Henderson, Nevada, Michael McGuan and wife Denise (Viens), of Waterville, Maine, David McGuan and wife Barbara (Miller) of Brunswick, Maine, Patrick McGuan and wife Margaret (Sweeny) of Denver, Colorado, and Gregory McGuan and wife Tami (Black), of Denver, Colorado.
Survivors also include 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bud was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Bea; his parents, Francis and Constance (Siberz) McGuan; his brother, Andrew McGuan; and his sisters, Margaret Mary Holt and Helen McGuan.
There will be no public visiting hours per Bud’s request. Bud will be cremated, and a memorial Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Waterville on Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m.
