Ducks interact with Sacred Heart children

Ashley Kast, Sacred Heart Catholic School 4-year-old kindergarten paraprofessional, brought in a group of ducklings for a special visit recently as students, from left, Tate Surfus, Logan Grabowski and Lukas Hoffman got to play with one of them. Elkins gets awards for Oconto County 4-H efforts

Aimee Elkins, 4‑H educator in Oconto County with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension, has been awarded the Communicator Award for her Oconto County Teen Court promotional package, as well as specialty awards for Winter Camp East Excellence in Teamwork and Excellence in Camping by the Wisconsin Association of Extension 4‑H Youth Development Professionals through its annual statewide recognition program.

It’s no longer lights out on Townsend nights

When my granddaughter was in elementary school, I took her outside during a visit on one cold, clear Christmas night. Mother Nature was really strutting her stuff. The moon was full, the firmament ablaze with stars that peppered the inky sky. Mars and Venus were clearly visible to the naked eye.
