Suring grads perform in junior music recital

Two 2011 graduates of Suring High School performed in their junior music recital May 2 at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Lane Ludtke, a vocal music major, and Gatlin Grimm, a trumpet major, shared the stage at their junior recital held in the Jean Weidner Room at the Weidner Center. Ludtke, the son of Cindy and Greg Ludtke, of Suring, plans to be a band and choir teacher. He has been involved in the jazz choir and the UWGB Chorale. He sings with his sister, Farin, and mother, Cindy, a music teacher at Assumption BVM Elementary in Pulaski, for many occasions. Grimm, the son of Kris and Ken Babicky, of Suring, plays various trumpets and is preparing to be a performer and band instructor. He has been a leader in the UWGB pep band. He also plays in the UWGB jazz band and symphonic band. His parents sing in a family band called South Branch Road. Both students have been involved in music their whole lives. They competed together at the state solo ensemble festival all four years of high school. Their high school music director was John Quigley.
