Shawano’s boys wrestling team placed sixth with 107.5 points at its home Holiday Classic on Dec. 21.
Kody Popelka finished in third place, Cash Panske was fourth, and Drew Chelberg, Kian Morstad and Marcus Brezgel each earned a fifth-place spot.
“Kody keeps wrestling well and continues to be one of our better wrestlers,” coach Mike Homan said. “Cash did a nice job today after missing some time this last weekend. He will continue to get better as he works the rest of the season.
“Drew Chelberg did a good job battling through his bracket today. Drew is a great kid and works hard. When he puts it all together, he is really going to stand out. Kian and Marcus are doing a great job as freshmen on the varsity team. They are wrestling in weight classes that are typically dominated by juniors and seniors, but they always show up and battle hard. They have bright futures if they continue to work hard.”
Next up is a meet in Oshkosh on Dec. 27.
