Sharon (nee Gardner) Reyna, 63, passed away Feb. 24, 2014. Sharon was born on the Stockbridge-Munsee Indian Reservation in Shawano County. She was the third child of five born to her late parents, Leona (Cuddy) Welch Gardner and Grady (Joe) Gardner Sr. Sharon passed away peacefully at the Seasons Hospice at West Lake Hospital in Chicago.
She grew up in Milwaukee where she met the love of her life, Roman Reyna Sr., and was united in marriage Aug. 9, 1969.
Sharon was adored by her children, Roman Jr. (Sandra) Reyna, of Chicago, Manuel (Belynda) Reyna, of Mercedes, Texas, and Raquel (Luis) Reyna Silva, of Weslaco, Texas. She was a cherished sister to Jo Ann (Jon) Schedler, of Gresham, David Gardner, of Redgranite, Richard Gardner, of Bowler, and Grady (Beth) Gardner Jr., of Franklin. Sharon was always a caring grandmother to Manuel Jr., Marc Anthony and Mia Lynn Reyna. Sharon is also survived by her Aunt Rosebud (Welch) Gospodarek and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sharon loved reading and communicating with family and friends on social media. She and Roman enjoyed traveling and visiting family in Texas, Chicago and on the reservation. Sharon was a proud member of the Mohican Nation Stockbridge-Munsee Indians.
On Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 11 a.m., there will be a graveside traditional Native ceremony at the Stockbridge Indian Burial Grounds located on Mo He Con Nuck Road, north of River Road.
Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano assisted the family with arrangements.
