Sandra M. Wendler, 65, Wittenberg, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at the Homme Home of Wittenberg under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born on March 28, 1948, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Clayton Cotter and Sylvia (Jelinski) Cotter, Tigerton.
On Feb. 12, 1972, Sandy was united in marriage to James R. Wendler in Tigerton. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1998.
Sandy and Jim farmed in the town of Wittenberg for many years. Sandy worked for a number of garbage disposal companies and thoroughly enjoyed her job. She enjoyed taking drives and socializing with family and friends, but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include three children, Scott (Tammy) Wendler, Wittenberg, Shelly (Ken Jensen) Kitsemble, Eland, and Tonya (Scott) Kratz, Forest Junction; her mother, Sylvia Cotter, Tigerton; eight grandchildren, Danica, Erica, Jami, Sophia, Hunter, Chase, Katie and Rachel; two brothers, Norman (Sue) Cotter, Menomonee Falls, and Tom Cotter, Tigerton; two brothers-in-law, Jack (Gloria) Wendler, Ripon, and Joe (Shannon) Wendler, Wittenberg; one sister-in-law, Judy Roeder, Wittenberg; and her mother-in-law, Jane Wendler, Wittenberg. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her father and husband, Sandy was preceded in death by one brother, Dick Cotter; her son-in-law, Greg Kitsemble; and father-in-law, Roland Wendler.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. The Rev. Patrick Lloyd will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and again on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m., all at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg.
