Hawks fall to Hortonville The Shawano Community High School volleyball team was swept by Hortonville in a Bay Conference match Thursday in Hortonville. The Polar Bears (1-0) won 25-8, 25-14, 25-23. The Hawks (0-2) were led by Erika Dunnam, who had 15 digs and four kills. Peyton Going had five kills and seven digs. Haley Going had 16 digs. Bears fall in 5 to Pacelli The Bonduel High School volleyball team lost in five sets Thursday to Central Wisconsin Conference-8 foe Stevens Point Pacelli in Bonduel. The Bears lost the first game 25-23, won the second 25-22, dropped the third 25-10, and forced a fifth game with a 25-19 win in the fourth. The Bears lost 15-10 in the tie-breaker. Jenni Dowden had 13 kills for Bonduel (1-3). Deanna Zernicke had 21 digs. Courtney Schmidt had 15 assists. Gresham swept by Port Edwards The Gresham High School volleyball team lost 3-0 against Port Edwards in a Central Wisconsin Conference-10 match Thursday in Gresham. Gresham (1-3) lost to Port Edwards (2-0) 25-19, 25-17, 25-7. Gresham’s Tylena Bohl had seven kills. Nande Carroll had nine assists. Chargers sweep Amherst The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School volleyball team swept Central Wisconsin Conference-8 foe Amherst 3-0 in a match Thursday in Amherst. Wittenberg-Birnamwood (4-0) beat Amherst (1-1) 25-6, 29-27, 25-13. Taylor Bushman had 15 kills for W-B. Micah Nier had 14 kills and 12 digs. Taylor Nier had six kills and 13 digs. Hannah Buntrock had six kills. Truckers beat by Winneconne The Clintonville High School volleyball team fell in four games to Eastern Valley Conference foe Winneconne Thursday in Clintonville. Winneconne (3-0) won 25-14, 18-25, 25-20, 26-24. Lynnea Johnson led Clintonville (0-1) with 22 assists. Chrissy Betz had 10 kills. Autumn Voigt had three kills and three blocks. Gresham tops Peshtigo The Gresham/Bowler boys soccer team defeated Peshtigo 3-0 Thursday in Gresham. Gresham/Bowler’s Austin Olson had two goals and Christian Haffner had one. Drew Payne and Walker Miller had assists for the Wildcats (7-4). Neil Cerveny had four saves tending the Gresham/Bowler goal. Hawks lose to New London The Shawano Community High School girls tennis team lost 5-2 Thursday in New London. Shawano got its wins from No. 4 singles player Molly Haas, who defeated MacKenzie Leahy (4-6, 10-8, 10-6), and the No. 3 doubles team of Sara Hockenstad and Meghan Hoffman, which defeated Stephanie Gossend and Schulyer Van Dreel (4-6, 6-4, 10-3). Bonduel sixth at Ridgeway The Bonduel High School girls golf team shot a 235 to tie with Waupaca for sixth-place at an Eastern Valley Conference meet Thursday at Ridgeway Country Club in Appleton. Fox Valley Lutheran won the event. Bonduel was led by Taylor Diemel’s 52. Elizabeth Schaal and Danielle Lautenbach each carded 60. Samantha Schaal shot 63 and Morgan Pennings shot 66. Appleton Xavier’s Mikala Smith was the medalist, shooting a 40.
