The Oconto Falls High School wrestling team won the championship bracket Dec. 30 at the 28-team Northern Exposure Invitational in Merrill.
The Panthers were 6-1 in the two-day tourney and won 66 of their 99 individual matches.
Senior Dewey Krueger, at 152 and 160 pounds, won all seven of his matches on pins: Lucas Lee, Merrill, in 51 seconds; D’Andre Brown, West Allis Central, 0:57: Bryk Duren, Waunakee, 0:22; Desmond Crapp, River Ridge, 0:53; Ben Matsui, Eden Prairie, 1:17; Cole Lake, Edgar, 0:51; and Boone Schmitz, Mineral Point, 3:02.
Sophomore Nate Trepanier (145) and senior Sam Konitzer (126) each finished 6-1 for the Panthers.
OFHS defeated Mineral Point, River Ridge, Edgar and Waunakee, lost to Merrill, and then defeated Eden Prairie, 36-31, and West Allis Central, 36-24, in the championship bracket.
Other teams winning bracket championships were Merrill, Fennimore, Eau Claire North, Norway and a co-op team named the Grizzlies.
