Jacob Mogged will play in the state American Legion all-star game, and teammates Colton Giese and Hunter Magnin will play in the Fox Valley American Legion all-star game.
The Wisconsin American Legion Baseball All-Star Game will be held Aug. 18 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Mogged, Oconto Falls’ second baseman, will be one of 27 players on the South team and 55 players overall selected to play in the game.
“You know Jacob, he’s coming back from playing college baseball,” Oconto Falls coach Chris Hillberg said. “He offers up a lot of leadership. He’s got a solid approach to the game.”
Mogged led the team in hitting and was eighth overall in Fox River Valley American Legion play with a .400 batting average.
“He’s been our No. 3 hitter the last two seasons,” Hillberg said. “He’s just very solid defensively. … Just does a real nice job on the baseball field.”
Giese, a shortstop, and Magnin, a pitcher, will play in the Fox River Valley American Legion All-Star Game on Saturday at Fox Cities Stadium in Little Chute.
“Colton Giese, he was probably our team leader, vocally and by his on-field performance,” Hillberg said. “Just an extremely solid shortstop. Very good leadoff hitter with good speed. Takes a real good approach to the game.”
Giese was second on the team with a .378 batting average, but his ability to rally the team stood out to the coach.
“(Giese) is really good at getting everyone involved and fired up,” Hillberg said.
Magnin shined on the mound for Oconto Falls.
“Hunter was the ace of our staff this year,” Hillberg said. “He was the one who drew all of the tough assignments. He had a real nice ERA. Really our team went as our pitching went and with Hunter in the game, we were in every game he pitched.”
Magnin (4-2) led the league in ERA (2.70) and strikeouts (38). He allowed 32 hits, 18 runs and walked 14 in his 36.1 innings on the mound this season.
