The Machickanee Players will hold auditions for the October production of “Escanaba in da Moonlight” on June 24 from 6-7 p.m., and again June 29 from 2-4 p.m. The auditions will be held at the Park Avenue Theatre, 408 Park Ave., Oconto. “Escanaba in da Moonlight” is a boisterous comedy written by Jeff Daniels, and showcases Yooper hunting culture and traditions. UW-Whitewater Bennett Frazer, a management major from Lena, is a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team, which qualified for the 2024 NCAA Division 3 Championship, an eight-team, double-elimination national tournament in Eastlake, Ohio. The Warhawks won the NCAA Whitewater Regional and Super Regional rounds to punch a ticket to their eighth Division 3 World Series.

Clarence C. Werner, 99, Oconto Falls, died May 27, 2024. He was born in the Town of Oconto Falls Dec. 16, 1924, to Frank and Lavina Werner. He attended North Morgan Grade School and Oconto Falls High School, graduating with the class of 1942. He was employed at Scott Paper Company for 38 years, retiring on Jan. 1, 1987. Clarence married Gladys L. Heinemann on May 28, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan.

Carolyn Ann Litscher was brought to her heavenly home on May 30, 2024. She passed surrounded by loved ones at her treasured home on Chute Pond. Carolyn was born Aug. 6, 1943, to Roy and Verna Rusch. She married her childhood friend and classmate, Tom Litscher, on Dec. 26 1971. They raised their family together at their home in Appleton before retiring to their cottage in Mountain. Carolyn graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School in 1961.

A second consecutive visit to the state tennis meet ended May 31 for Shawano’s doubles team of George Buerman and Tristan Sheldon. The duo lost 6-2, 6-2 in the second round of action to Plymouth’s Owen Plate and Jaren Baltus. The WIAA state tennis meet was held at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on the UW-Madison campus.
