Hawks go 4-1 on Bay Port tennis courts

Shawano’s tennis team won four of its five matches at Bay Port on April 17-18.

On April 17, the Hawks were 5-2 winners in all of their matches, claiming victories over Roncalli/Manitowoc Lutheran, Hortonville and Germantown.

On April 18, it was Nicolet defeating Shawano 5-2. However, the Hawks won their fourth match, a 4-3 win over Elkhorn.

Red Raiders soccer team wins home opener

Pulaski 2, Slinger 0

The Pulaski girls varsity soccer team had its first home game of the season against Slinger, shutting out the Owls 2-0.

The Red Raiders first goal was scored by Sydney Kunstman and assisted by Gretchen Rottier. The second goal was scored by Leah Grygiel, unassisted.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s George Seegmiller scored an 85 and placed eighth at 13-team invitational Whistling Straits/Irish Course-Haven in Sheboygan.

Pulaski, Bonduel, Wittenberg-Birnamwood win big in softball

Pulaski 15, Green Bay Southwest 1

Pulaski scored in each of the game’s five innings to beat Green Bay Southwest 15-1.

Kamrie Dorn hit 3-for-4 with a double, triple and home run and five RBIs.

Molly Molthen and Josey Shaw were each 3-for-4 with a double, triple and RBI.

Kiera Altman hit 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double.

Bonduel baseball team tops Menominee Nation

Bonduel 13, Menominee Nation 3

The Bears used a trio of four-run innings to seal a 13-3 win over Menominee Nation.

Bonduel’s Beckett Hartlaben hit a home run, and doubles were recorded by Carter Beilfuss and Ryan Niles.

Beilfuss hit 3-for-3, and Joe Felhofer hit 2-for-3.

For the Eagles, John Redkettle had a double.

Shawano soccer loses at home

Menasha 3, Shawano 1

A 1-1 tie at the half broke in favor of Menasha as the Bluejays scored twice more in the second half to steal a 3-1 win over the Hawks.

It was rare home game for the Hawks, who hosted the contest at the Shawano Community Middle School field.

Pulaski girls fall to Bay Port

Bay Port 20, Pulaski 2 (girls)

Pulaski’s girls lacrosse team was soundly defeated by Bay Port 20-2.

Olivia Larock and Riley Hartman scored the goals for the Red Raiders. Cami Prentice recorded an assist.

Goaltender Macie Senter allowed seven goals and made six saves. Nicole Bodart allowed 13 goals and made three saves.

Owen Birr

Owen Birr died unexpectedly Feb. 3, 2026.

He was born May 22, 1981, to Colleen Wicker (Reed) and Brian Birr. He grew up in the Town of Underhill in Oconto County and attended Gillett public schools.
