The Shawano School Board rejected the petition of a man from the Town of Waukechon seeking to have his full property absorbed into the Bonduel School District by a 7-1 vote Feb. 10. Charles Lemerande told the board that his children already attend Bonduel public schools through open enrollment.

ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano Auxiliary will be offering scholarships for students who are currently enrolled in a health care education program. Since 1983, the auxiliary has awarded more than $124,000 in scholarships. The scholarship program is designed to help students finance tuition for the final year of college or technical school for the 2025-2026 school year.

A barn was destroyed and at least six cows were lost in a fire Feb. 4. About 5:02 p.m., the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department received a call reporting a barn fire on Swamp Road near County Road K in the Town of Waukechon. Callers reported the barn was fully engulfed, and that there was no one inside. When deputies arrived on scene, they were able to confirm no one was inside the barn.
