March 29 Ripon College Showcase Meet Shawano Community High School’s boys and girls track and field teams opened their season at the Ripon College Showcase Meet. The girls placed third with 64 points among 12 small schools and seventh overall with 36 points among 21 large and small schools. The boys scored 40 points and placed sixth among 12 small schools. Adalyn Barkley won the 400-meter dash in 59.09.

March 27 Marshfield Tigers Girls Invite Kylee Beversdorf captured four first-place finishes to lead the Wittenberg-Birnamwood track and field team at Marshfield. Beversdorf won the 60-yard dash in 7.6 seconds and the 220-yard dash in 29.09. She also won top honors in the 440-yard dash in 1:05.94 and the long jump in 14 feet 1.75 inches. Lily Metropulos finished fourth in the 440-yard dash in 1:13.38.

Mary Smith, director of the Suring School Fishery Program, gave a presentation to Suring Sportsman’s Club members March 26. The Suring School Fishery Program is raising 150 fingerling rainbow trout, which were acquired as eggs.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood went 1-2 in their games at Clermont, Florida. The Chargers opened their season with an 11-1 loss to Revere (Ohio) on March 25. On March 26, Witt-Bird defeated Adams-Friendship 12-6 for their first victory. Finally, on March 27, the Chargers lost 13-3 to Clintonville. They were scheduled to play at Weyauwega-Fremont on March 31 and at Amherst on April 3. Today’s schedule features a game at Westfield.

Shawano’s Logan Sipple connected on a game-winning shot in overtime to seal the win in the fourth annual Wisconsin Herd high school all-star game March 29 in Oshkosh. The Herd all-stars defeated Wisconsin 133-131. The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, hosted the event that included a 3-point contest, dunk contest and all-star game. Team Wisconsin included Jesse DeBauch, Gillett.

March 25 OFHS Indoor Meet Oconto Falls hosted Algoma, Oconto and Suring in a season-opening indoor meet. The Panthers captured first place in 10 boys events and five girls events. Elijah White won the 200-meter dash in 26.44, and Emerson Rice won the 400-meter dash in 58.84. Griffin Kopke had the top spot in the 800-meter run in 2:27.90, while Mason Lotto won the 1,600-meter run in 5:55.60.
