Verna B. Miller

Verna B. Miller, 87, of Neopit, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at a local nursing home. Born on April 10, 1926, in Neopit, she was the daughter of the late Luke and Susan (Amob) Beauprey. On June 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Fred. F. “Bud” Miller at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. He preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1982. Verna worked as a dispatcher for the Menominee County Police Department until retiring. She was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Schoenstadt Society and the St. Kateri Tekawitha Circle. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. Verna was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed. Verna is survived by four children, Clara (Al) Miller, of Neopit, Susan (Donahue) Miller, of Keshena, Frederick (Liz) Miller, Jr., of Whitewater, David A. “Jonsey” (Becky) Miller, of Keshena; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cordelia Beauprey, of Zoar, Eldora Besaw, of Neopit, Marcene Beauprey, of Shawano; a sister-in-law, Lorelei Beauprey, of Milwaukee; special niece, Diane “Tootie” Shooter; special nephew, Darrell O’Katchicum; and her very good friend, Elaine Peters. Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; five children, Sandra Miller, Mary Ann Miller, John D. Miller, Edward “Bosco” Miller, Lori Jean Miller; her parents; three brothers, Rodney Beauprey, Luke Beauprey, Quentin Beauprey; and three sisters, Anna Belle Moeser, Virginia Tousey and Susan Marie O’Katchicum. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem., officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the family residence, W6716 Shawpokasic St., in Neopit from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service on Saturday. A parish wake service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
