If you were in the Shawano Speedway grandstand on Saturday night, you were in the right spot on a picture perfect night. In addition to fast and furious racing, fans were treated to a post-race corn roast and concert.
Brandon Czarapata, Lucas Lamberies, Nick Anvelink, Marcus Yarie and Jasper Drengler picked up feature wins in their respective divisions.
IMCA Stock Car
The IMCA Stock Car division again provided some of the best on-track action. Mike Schmidt and Kyle Frederick took to the front early with a fierce battle. While those two battled each other, company was coming in the form of Czarapata, Justin Jacobsen and Dan Michonski.
The top five would battle in a group that you could cover with a blanket for a few laps until the caution flag flew.
On the restart, that five-car group had a couple of more drivers join it: “Hot” Rod Snellenberger and Mitch Stankowski.
With nine laps to go, Czarapata grabbed the lead and went on to take the checkered flag. Snellenberger, Schmidt, Michonski and Frederick would complete the top five.
Shawano Late Model
The Late Model division took the green with Jeff Curtin and Mark Rose on the front row. Curtin would grab the lead and hold it for five laps with Anvelink and Ron Berna giving chase.
On lap six Anvelink would grab the point and begin his getaway. Troy Springborn joined the top three and began his battle with Berna a short time later as Anvelink continued to pull away. Berna would eventually win the battle for second.
Ricky Weiss, the 2010 WISSOTA national champion visiting the weekly show from Canada, would charge to a top five position until contact forced him to the pit area.
Springborn maintained third, while Curtin held fourth and Brett Swedberg took fifth.
IMCA Sport Mod
The IMCA Sport Mod division would belong to Lamberies.
The only thing slowing the 0 car would be the yellow flag. Every time Lamberies would build a big lead, the caution would fly and he would have to rebuild his advantage.
The bad news for the field is that each time Lamberies faced a restart, he nailed it and ran from the field.
Austin Carter would win the best battle on the track, holding off Jason Jach for second. Cody Hudson finished a few spots back in fourth and Rob Krull grabbed the fifth spot.
IMCA Modifieds
The IMCA Modifieds tried hard not to be outdone with some great action. Matt Oreskovich would take the early advantage and begin to pull away from Eric Scribner.
A caution would allow the Yarie’s machine to join the battle. He just didn’t join; he finished the fight, grabbing the lead and quickly building a large advantage before cruising to victory.
Brad Rohloff completed a great run to grab second. Jason Czarapata passed the most cars and finished third. Czarapata was the cause of an early caution, putting him to the back of the field on lap 9. He would charge through the field before running out of laps. Jared Siefert finished fourth. Lance Arneson also grabbed a top-five position.
Mighty 4s
The Mighty 4s feature belonged to Drengler, who took the lead on lap 3 and dominated the race from there.
Pole sitter Cal Chapin would fight to a fourth-place finish. Grant Kastning and Trent Nolan grabbed positions two and three, respectively. Kasey Gross would finish out the top five.
