Mary K. Sawicki, 60, of rural Tigerton, passed away Thursday,
Aug. 22, 2013, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital from injuries sustained in an
automobile accident close to her home.
The former Mary Kay McGraw was born in Appleton to John and Cele
(Steinhauer) McGraw. She was raised in the Leopolis area and graduated from
Marion High School in 1972. Mary went on to receive a degree in psychology
from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and later earned her masters from UW-Green Bay. She was
united in marriage on July 2, 1994, to Craig S. Sawicki in Oshkosh. Mary
worked as a counselor for more than 20 years with Winnebago County Behavioral
Health in Oshkosh. She retired in 2008 and the couple moved north to build
their dream home in the town of Morris, Shawano County. Mary was
employed part time with North Central Health Care, Wausau, continuing her
work with the mentally handicapped. She was an avid reader who liked
reading mysteries and fiction novels. Mary enjoyed going on long walks with
their yellow lab, Swick, and taking care of her sister, Judy. She cherished
her home in the Northwoods and especially loved her husband of 19
years.
Survivors include her husband, Craig, and a daughter, Katie Sawicki, of
Oklahoma. There are two sisters, Judy Tardiff and Kelly (Patrick) Rogers,
both of Clintonville. There is a half-brother, Jim Lockery, of New York.
There are two brothers-in-law, Randy (Pat) Sawicki and Bruce (Maryjane)
Sawicki, both of Oshkosh. She is further survived by two nieces, Katie and
Megan; two nephews, Mitchel and Kevin; and many other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Craig Jr.; and two
brothers-in-law, Bert Tardiff and Gary Sawicki.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m.
at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leopolis. The Rev. Patrick Lloyd will officiate
and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday
from 4-8 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, and on
Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.
