Gresham/Bowler overwhelms Amherst The Bowler/Gresham high school boys soccer team had eight goals to get its first win of the season Thursday against Amherst in Gresham. With Gresham/Bowler (1-2) leading 2-0 to begin the second half, Drew Payne scored four straight goals, the first on an assist by Trace Miller and the rest unassisted. Scott Cerveny added two goals and an assist. Walker Miller and Austin Olson had goals in the first half. Gresham/Bowler goalie Neil Cerveny had seven saves against Amherst (1-2). Bonduel splits in Manitowoc The Bonduel High School volleyball team split a triangular at Manitowoc Roncalli on Thursday. The Bears beat Cedar Grove in three sets (26-25, 21-25, 15-3) but lost to Roncalli in two (25-23, 25-16). Jen Dowden had 15 kills, 17 blocks, seven assists and 19 points. Lexi Reinke had 14 kills. Courtney Schmidt had 16 assists. Chargers third at SPASH invite The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School volleyball team beat Appleton West in two sets to take third place at the Stevens Point Area Senior High School Invitational on Thursday. The Chargers beat Appleton West 25-16 and 25-14 after beating Edgar and Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran. Taylor Bushman had 28 kills, eight blocks and 17 digs. Micah Nier had 27 kills, 16 blocks and 14 digs. Taylor Nier had 14 kills, 24 digs and six aces. Madison Bushman had 72 assists. Marion/Tigerton beats Gillett Marion/Tigerton beat Gillett 43-29 in a nonconference football game Thursday in Gillett. No other stats were available at the Leader’s press time.
