Manawa wins Marion Invitational Manawa High School was a perfect 5-0 at the Marion Volleyball Invitational Friday in Marion. Tigerton was second with a record of 3-2. Wisconsin Valley Lutheran also went 3-2 to finish third. Marion was 2-3, Menominee Indian 1-4 and White Lake 1-4. Individual leaders for Marion were Jessica Reminger, 32 points, 29 assists and 11 kills; Mackenzie Toma, 22 points, 17 kills and eight blocks; Amanda Krueger, 16 points, eight kills, three blocks and six assists; Brice Miller, 15 assists; Kate Breitick, 11 kills and 13 points; Julia Beil, 10 points and seven kills. Chargers beat Rhinelander The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School football team beat Rhinelander 15-13 in double overtime Friday in Rhinelander. The teams were tied 7-7 at the end of the fourth quarter. After a scoreless overtime period, Wittenberg-Birnamwood took a 15-7 lead on a 25-yard pass from Sam Szews to Adam Beran. Szews then found Jesse Sprague for the two-point conversion. Rhinelander had a chance to tie the game after Luke Linsmeyer scored an 11-yard touchdown. Linsmeyer was tackled short on the two-point conversion to give the Chargers the game.
