Shawano beats New London
The Shawano Community High School boys soccer team won its Bay Conference opener 2-1 Thursday in New London.
Garret Schlise had both of Shawano’s goals in the second half after New London took a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Michael Meisner had four saves in goal for Shawano (4-1-1, 1-0 Bay).

Gresham falls to Wis. Valley Lutheran
The Gresham Community High School girls volleyball team lost in three games Thursday to Wisconsin Valley Lutheran in Mosinee.
Gresham (0-1) lost 26-24, 25-17, 25-17. Tylena Bohl had 10 kills. Nande Carroll had 13 assists and eight points.
In junior varsity action, Gresham swept Wisconsin Valley Lutheran 25-14, 25-16, 16-14.

Gresham/Bowler tops Clintonville
The Gresham/Bowler high school boys soccer team beat Clintonville 3-1 Thursday in Clintonville.
Austin Olson, Drew Payne and Walker Miller each had goals for the Wildcats.
Clintonville took a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Scott Cerveny had five saves tending Gresham/Bowler’s goal.

Chargers lose to Marathon
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School volleyball team lost to Marathon in four games Thursday in Marathon.
The Chargers lost the first game 25-17 before winning an extended second game 31-29.
They went on to lose the next two games, 25-20, 25-10.
Micah Nier had 18 kills for Witt-Birn. Taylor Bushman had nine kills. Madi Bushman had 28 assists.

Witt-Birn girls fourth at Marathon
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School girls cross-country team was fourth and the boys team seventh Thursday at the Marathon Sawmill Classic.
The Chargers girls were led by Alexis Balliett, who finished 14th in 17:41. Siri Zeinert finished 17th with a time of 17:50.
The boys were led by Dustin Tomson, who finished 25th (19:09.40).
